Every Saturday, Guru Nanak Punjabi School provides freshly prepared vegetarian snacks for our students during Punjabi School sessions. Through the generous support of our parent volunteers, children enjoy healthy refreshments while learning the Sikh values of seva, sharing, and community spirit.
Kids Snack Sewa is a community-led initiative where parents sponsor and organise nutritious vegetarian snacks for children attending Punjabi School. The sewa is much more than providing food—it teaches our children the Sikh values of seva (selfless service), sharing, community spirit, and gratitude.
Every week, volunteer families work alongside our Langar Sewadars to prepare and serve snacks in the Langar Hall. Through this simple act of service, children witness firsthand the power of giving back to the community and begin to understand the deep spiritual meaning of Guru Ghar seva.
Our goal is to provide children with healthy, vegetarian snacks while creating meaningful opportunities for families to participate in Guru Ghar seva. The program gives parents an opportunity to celebrate special occasions in a meaningful way by serving the Guru's sangat, rather than simply celebrating at home.
Families can sponsor snacks for:
Volunteer families may choose one or more of the following snack items. Seasonal fruits are a mandatory part of every Kids Snack & Langar Sewa.
Customisation: Families are welcome to customise the menu while following our approved vegetarian ingredient guidelines. Contact the Snack Sewa Coordinator to discuss your ideas.
Families booking the Kids Snack Sewa may also arrange a birthday cake ceremony during the Punjabi School Assembly. This allows children to celebrate their special day with their classmates while embracing the spirit of sharing and seva.
The birthday child can help serve snacks to their friends and teachers, making the celebration meaningful and memorable. It's a wonderful way to mark the occasion while teaching the values of generosity and community.
To ensure all children can enjoy the snacks safely, please follow these guidelines when selecting and purchasing ingredients:
If no family books the Kids Snack & Langar Sewa for a particular Saturday, Gurudwara Sahib will arrange and provide snacks for all children, ensuring every student continues to receive refreshments during Punjabi School.
Parents are warmly encouraged to come forward and participate in this beautiful sewa whenever possible. Your contribution helps keep this tradition of seva alive for our children and the wider community.
Enrolments are open for 2026. Register your child and become part of our community.
