Since 1985, Guru Nanak Punjabi School has been a home for families across Western Sydney who want to preserve their Punjabi language, heritage, and identity — one Saturday at a time.
Guru Nanak Punjabi School (GNPS) was founded in 1985 with a simple but powerful belief: that every child of Punjabi heritage deserves the chance to speak, read, and write in their mother tongue. We are a fully volunteer-run community language school, formally registered with the NSW Department of Education's Community Languages Program since 1997.
The school is managed by a dedicated School Committee and operates under the guidance of the ASA's Education Director. Our ~35 volunteer teachers bring warmth, patience, and deep cultural knowledge to every class, serving over 500 enrolled students across four Saturday sessions.
Join our community →What began as a small gathering of families in a local community hall has grown into one of Sydney's most established Punjabi language schools.
Every decision we make as a school flows from these principles.
GNPS is managed by a volunteer School Committee and operates under the guidance of the ASA's (Australian Sikh Association) Education Director. Our committee members give their time freely to ensure the school runs smoothly and continues to thrive for the community.
Our in-person classes are held at Glenwood Gurudwara Sahib, 18 Meurants Lane, Glenwood NSW. The online session is accessible to students anywhere in Australia via video call.
Enrolments are open for 2026. Whether you are new to Punjabi or continuing your learning, there is a class for you at GNPS.
